Discord landed just at the edge of the EverFree Forest and looked behind him at the mob of ponies yelling and cursing at him.
Hovering just above the crowd was Rainbow Dash. Her back was turned to him as she watched Celestia and the others walk back into the village. She turned around and saw Discord looking at her. She looked
guilty. When she saw the shame on her friend's faces she suddenly felt really bad. She stared right into Discord's eyes and said, "I'm sorry."
Discord saw her lips shape these words, but he couldn't hear her.
He just simply shook his head in dismay before turning around and entering the forest. He walked deeper and deeper into it, the forest growing darker and darker as his heart grew heavier and heavier with each step. He began to think about what Fluttershy had said back in her house. He contemplated her words, "I love him." Those three words astounded him. How could anypony possibly love him?
After about an hour of walking, he made it to the half decayed castle. Parts of it were still falling apart. He found a patch of moss and settled himself down in it. He stared above him, gazing at the moon that was casting light through a gap in the ceiling.
Not long after he arrived, there was a large flash of bright light. It filled the entire room, nearly blinding Discord. He covered his eyes with his arm and waited for the light to fade. He peaked out from between his talons and saw the princess and the six ponies who wielded the Elements of Harmony. What really concerned him was that they were currently wearing said elements.
"I am giving you a final chance," Celestia began, "If you ever leave this stone prison again, I will have you immediately killed."
Discord nodded miserably and sat down, awaiting the pain that was about to hit him. Being turned to stone was the most painful experience he had ever experienced.
Fluttershy still had tears rolling down her cheeks. She didn't want to turn Discord to stone. Not now. Not ever.
"Okay, girls," Twilight called out. She sounded quite confident but there was still a hint of sorrow in her face and voice. That same sorrow could be seen on all of their faces, except for Rainbow Dash. Her expression? Guilt. The only thing you could see in her eyes was guilt.
Celestia watched the ponies as the elements began to glow.
The magic was swirling around the room, ruffling the ponies' manes.
Twilight began to float up, closely followed by the others. She opened her eyes, allowing the light to stream out. The elements were glowing brightly, ready to let out their power. Just as the magic began to float out of the elements
the light died.
And the ponies all fell and hit the floor. Hard.
"I can't do it!" Fluttershy sobbed. She glanced at her friends who were groaning as they pulled themselves off of the floor.
Discord looked up as he saw the light disappear. He was confused, yet relieved at the same time.
Fluttershy ran past Discord, her wing clipping on him and causing several feathers to snap. She wriggled through a small hole in a stone wall and ran into the depths of the forest.
"Fluttershy! Get back here now!" Celestia called after her but Fluttershy ignored her and continued running.
Her friends began to chase after her, galloping at full speed. Discord and Celestia exchanged glances before chasing after the others.
Fluttershy sobbed as she ran through the dark forest. She pushed through bushes and vines, deeper into the shadows.
When Discord and Celestia caught up with the rest, Twilight managed to say through deep breaths, "We can't keep up!"
"Hang on!" Rainbow Dash said as she lifted off the ground and began to fly, "I'll catch her! Meet ya there!"
With that, Rainbow Dash off into the shadows, leaving a rainbow trail behind her.
She almost immediately caught up with Fluttershy. She flew in front of her fleeing friend, whipping around and landing directly in front of her, causing her to crash into Rainbow. They both tumbled over, landing in a patch of leaves.
The two Pegasi lay there, catching their breath.
"Fluttershy, are you crazy? You don't know what's out here," Rainbow spoke through deep breaths.
Fluttershy looked up at her. She opened her mouth to speak, but was drowned out by a large roaring noise. Fluttershy screamed and Rainbow whipped her head around to see what it was.
"How dare you awake me from my slumber?" A deep voice spoke from the shadows.
Fluttershy buried herself under the leaves, trembling.
"I'm not scared of you! Show yourself!" Rainbow Dash yelled out, stepping in front of Fluttershy to guard her.
A snarling face came out of the shadows, its eyes glowing a bright yellow in the moonlight. It was a dragon at least 5 times the size of Rainbow.
"You don't scare me! I can take you on single hoofed!" Rainbow jumped back onto her hind legs, with her front hooves in the air, ready to fight.
The dragon chuckled at her pathetic size and a large clawed hand swooped around, hitting Rainbow and causing her to fly through the air. She landed with a grunt, rolling into a patch of dirt.
The dragon turned to Fluttershy, who was just peeping out from under the leaves, and snarled viciously at her. It raged forward, ready to attack her, but just at that moment Discord leaped over Fluttershy and onto the dragon, tackling it into the shadows.
Fluttershy got up and ran to Rainbow Dash, helping her to her feet as her other friends and the princess quickly approached and gathered around them, staring into the shadows.
All that could be heard was Discord and the dragon roaring in pain and anger
on and on until the roaring eventually stopped.
All the ponies were worried, including Celestia.
A few moments passed, and Discord limped out of the shadows. He had a deep gash on his side and tail and his back horse leg was broken. He had many other wounds but nothing as bad as those. He stopped, and looked at the ponies who were staring at him in horror. His eyes were clouded. He tried to walk forward a little more but he collapsed and his eyes shut.
"Discord!" Fluttershy squeaked as she ran to the collapsed draconequus, "Wake up. Please!" she sobbed as she nuzzled his cheek, trying to lift his head. All she heard a small groan come from him though.
"Fluttershy...." he said weakly. His heavy eyes open slightly and looked at Fluttershy "Why? Why did you stop your element?"
"Because I love you...." she looked deep into Discords eyes. Discord only looked at her, saying nothing. A tear made its way out of his eye and rolled down his cheek as his eyes shut again. His breathing began to slow.
"No...you can't go! You have to stay! Wake up!" Fluttershy shoved him, trying to wake him up but he made no response. Whipping her head around to look at her friends she exclaimed, "Well?! Why are you all just standing there! Help me get him home!" Fluttershy's feelings had completely taken over and she felt like screaming at everypony, "If his wounds continue to bleed, he'll die for sure!"
"But we'll get all bloody!" Rarity complained. Fluttershy took a deep breath to try to calm herself, "Yes...we probably will. But what do you care more about? A life
or your mane?"
Rarity exhaled then looked at her hooves. With that, the princess and the others trotted over at a fast pace. They all carefully pushed their head under Discord's long body, lifting him up off of the ground and onto their backs. They then began to carry him through the forest, back to Fluttershy's home.
They had only moved a few paces when Twilight spoke.
"Princess. You teleported us here...why can't you teleport us back?"
"I haven't enough power," Celestia began to explain, "I was only just able to get you all here. Anymore and my magic would've failed."
"Well, Rarity and I are unico- hang on," Twilight turned to Rarity, "Rarity, do you know how to use your horn to teleport?"
"Uhh... I do believe I know a little..." Rarity answered.
"Good enough!" Twilight smiled. "Ok, girls! Put him down! ...carefully..."
They put him down, just as carefully as Twilight told them, and stepped back.
"Twilight, you and Rarity couldn't possibly be strong enough to carry us all," Celestia pointed out.
"I know. That's why you're going to help," Twilight looked into her princess' eyes before moving over to stand beside her, "Rarity. Can you please come here?"
"Of course," Rarity daintily stepped over Discord and moved over, standing on the other side of Celestia.
"OK, everypony. Gather around," Twilight, Rarity, and Celestia's horns began to glow brightly as they waited for everypony to get close enough, but as soon as they were all as close as they could get, they disappeared into a flash of light which briefly lit up the forest before leaving it shrouded in darkness once again.
