After a few minutes of uneasy staring, Fluttershy and Discord finally began to relax and started to talk. Fluttershy was the first to speak. "What brings you back to Ponyville anyways?"
"I dunno...it just beats being trapped in stone I guess," he replied, uncertain of what to say. Fluttershy giggled softly, "I can understand that."
Discord smiled at her and sat down, making himself more comfortable, "I do suppose another reason is to...well..." Discord stopped.
Fluttershy stared into his eyes, waiting for him to finish his sentence.
"This is going to sound really weird," Discord continued, "I came back to...apologize."
Fluttershy smiled wearily at him, "That's not strange. Not strange at all."
"Hm, if you say so," Discord laid down, resting his head on his paws, "I still don't get why you're helping me. I mean, I was the one who thrust Equestria into chaos and disharmony."
"Yeah...I know," said Fluttershy, sitting herself down as well, "But it's been over nine years...surely you could have changed, and plus, I saw you last night and you looked so helpless...so alone. I just couldn't resist helping."
"Well you are the Element of Kindness," Discord pointed out, "If I had bumped into Twilight or Apple Jack, or one of those other mares...well...I don't think I'd be here right now. I did bump into Rainbow Dash first...and, well...she wasn't very pleased to see me," Discord laughed.
At that very moment, Rainbow Dash burst in between them, causing them both to jump back out of their comfort zones, "AND WHAT IN EQUESTRIA IS GOING ON HERE?!" Rainbow spat. Fluttershy jumped into a nearby bush, dropping the bag of food. Discord was curled back, trying not to give into his natural instincts to attack or flee.
Rainbow dash turned towards Discord, glaring into his eyes, snapping, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO FLUTTERSHY?!", she stepped towards him with every word, "I BET YOU BRAINWASHED HER!"
"What?! I didn't brainwash her!" Discord defended himself.
"H-he d-didn't brainwash me," Fluttershy squeaked from her bush. Rainbow Dash spun around to face Fluttershy and moved towards her instead, "Oh really? Why are you bringing him food then? Why are you being so kind to him? WHY DID YOU LIE TO ME?! YOU TOLD ME THIS FOOD WAS FOR THE ANIMALS!"
Fluttershy curled up tightly, shivering in fright. Her tail was just sticking out of the bush, "I-I had to lie to you-"
"WHY?! HUH? WHY?!"
"B-b-ecause otherwise y-you'd.. you'd..." Fluttershy's voice died out. Rainbow dropped her head in annoyance, then stuck her hoof in the bush Fluttershy was hiding in, placing it on her shoulder. "Stop you?"
Rainbow Dash could just see Fluttershy nodding her head.
"Look," she began, "I understand that your element is kindness, but this is Discord we're talking about here. We can't trust him," she threw a filthy look at Discord, causing him to growl back. Fluttershy stayed silent, but continued shivering.
"Fluttershy. I understand what you see, but he doesn't deserve a chance. He destroyed Ponyville. Twice! AND LAUGHED ABOUT IT!!" Rainbow Dash whipped around to Discord, "I know what you're planning Discord! AS SOON AS YOU 'BEFRIEND' ALL OF US ELEMENTS, YOU'LL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF US AND TAKE OVER EQUESTRIA!! AGAIN!!!"
"Well, I must say, that's a pretty nice plan," Discord drawled, "But NO! I'M NOT PLANNING TO TAKE OVER EQUESTRIA IN ANYWAY!"
Rainbow Dash continued to argue, "I BET YOU'LL PUT US ALL INTO CHAOS AND DISHARMONY!"
Discord took a deep breath, "LOOK! IF I WERE TO PUT EQUESTRIA UNDER CHAOS, DISHARMONY AND DISORDER, THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE! LOOK AROUND YOU! DO YOU SEE ANY CHAOS? DISHARMONY? NO! IN FACT, THE ONLY CHAOS AND DISHARMONY HERE IS YOU AND ME!"
Discord let out a deep sigh and sat down, placing a paw on Fluttershy in attempt to comfort her. She stopped shaking and looked up at Discord.
"You just wait till the others find out about this," Rainbow Growled. She flew as fast as she could out of Discord's and Fluttershy's sight. Discord dropped his head and halfheartedly joked, "I don't think I want to..."
Fluttershy joined in, giggling. "Yeah. Well, you're still a big dumb meanie."
"Hey!" Discord pushed her playfully. They both laughed for a while, then calmed down to a small giggle.
"Well, I'd better go inside and tend to a couple of sick animals."
"Okay," Discord smiled at her and she smiled back before trotting off, inside.
